The Corinthians and Paul.* Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast* before God.
The Rule of St. benedict calls for treating one another with fervent love, deep respect, patience, and a commitment to communal well-being. It emphasizes humility, mutual service, and reverence for God in every interaction.
Benedictine monastery is as a workshop: "the workshop where we are to toil faithfully at all this tasks is the enclosure of the monastery and stability in community." Daily conversion: Stability it is about ongoing transformation, a commitment to grow in holiness through the same community, even when it is difficult. In this way we can serve the poor, which we are, and do what Jesus asks us: "remain in me and I in you. By your perseverence you will secure your lives."
